Membership in BCASW offers countless ways to develop leadership skills, contribute to your community, and network with colleagues.
- Serve on your local branch executive or on the provincial BCASW Board. This is an opportunity to serve your profession through local leadership. Each year positions become available on the Provincial Board and local branches always welcome participation.
- Join committees supporting the work of the Board such as membership, nominations, professional development, and awards. Contact bcasw@bcasw.org for more info.
- Join the Perspectives newsmagazine editorial committee.
- Write an article for Perspectives.
- Share your knowledge and expertise by presenting a webinar.
BCASW's Professional Development Committee seeks proposals for collegial webinars. The webinars will be hosted by BCASW and are designed for members to share skills, knowledge, and practice strategies with their colleagues. There is specific interest in proposals that address cultural safety, working with diverse cultural groups, and ethical practice. Please submit proposals to cpd@bcasw.org using the template found here.
- Plan events during Social Work Week that heighten the visibility and profile of social work.
- Participate in groups related to your interests or field of practice.
- Add your name to our Mentoring Roster and share your wisdom and expertise with a fellow member.
- Help plan branch educational and networking events.
- Attend branch events.
