Professional Liability Insurance
BCASW members can purchase Professional Liability Insurance and other business insurance products at significantly discounted rates through the CASW-BMS Insurance Program. Members must have a BCASW Membership Number to apply; applicants cannot use a BC College of Social Workers registration number.
All social workers who purchase Professional Liability Insurance through the CASW program have access to summary pro bono legal advice from Gowling WLG (Canada) LLP, one of Canada’s largest national legal firms. Members can use this complimentary service for practice-related questions involving privacy and confidentiality, conflicts of interest, requests for information from third parties, inquiries from a regulatory body, subpoenas, professional misconduct, ethical obligations, and professional obligations.

BMS is the broker for the CASW Liability Insurance program. To purchase Professional Liability Insurance or other business insurance products, such as Commercial General Liability, Commercial Property coverage, Employment Practices Liability, and Cyber Security and Privacy Liability, or to ask questions about a liability insurance product, contact BMS.
Gowling WLG
Gowling WLG is the preferred legal firm on the CASW Liability Insurance program. Members who purchase Professional Liability Insurance through the program automatically receive access to summary pro bono legal advice from Gowlings for professional practice questions.
ARAG
ARAG is a separate provider that delivers the optional Legal Services Package, Personal Legal Solutions, and Business Legal Solutions. ARAG is not the same organization as Gowlings. If a member purchases the Legal Services Package, Personal Legal Solutions, or Business Legal Solutions, ARAG is the organization to contact for related questions. Members who purchase these products receive the toll-free phone number to contact ARAG on their certificate of insurance.
You must have an active BCASW membership number and be able to practise as a social worker in BC to qualify for this insurance.

Term Life, Critical Illness, and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance

- Term Life Insurance: up to $500,000 of Term Life Insurance coverage is available.
