Current initiative
Health-care social workers across the Lower Mainland joined with BCASW to call on the Minister of Housing to expand the Rental Assistance Program and Shelter Aid for Elderly Renters Program. These programs are critical tools for individuals and families and need to be expanded to support renters who are currently excluded.
BCASW launched an online letter-writing campaign inviting social workers and others to send a letter asking for an expansion of RAP and SAFER.
A voice for social work
BCASW heightens the profile and visibility of social work by representing the interests and concerns of the profession within the broader community. As a member, you have a voice in the development of policy papers, briefs, and presentations on a wide range of issues affecting social work practice or social policy.
Work with BCASW to address social issues, promote the profession, advocate for community needs, and plan professional development initiatives. One way to have your voice heard is by becoming active in a BCASW practice interest group or community.
