Biography
I am a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work in Clinical Practice from the University of Calgary. I bring more than 20 years of experience in mental health, substance use, trauma, and community services, including roles with Interior Health Authority, Alberta Health Services, and community organisations.
In my counselling practice, I support people navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance use concerns. I draw on EMDR, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, tailoring counselling to each person’s needs, strengths, and goals. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in cultural humility, gender-affirming care, and respect for diverse identities and experiences.
Alongside clinical practice, my background includes leadership, program development, supervision, and advocacy. I have mentored clinicians and practicum students, trained staff and volunteers, developed policies and resources, and managed program budgets. Earlier community work included support programming for newcomers, advocacy resources for single mothers, and training addressing same-sex intimate partner violence.
I am currently completing an MBA at Yorkville University to strengthen my skills in organisational management and strategic leadership. Across counselling and leadership, I am committed to helping people and teams build confidence, strengthen connections, and create meaningful change.
