Description of Practice
Meena has a compassionate and curious approach. She begins with each person’s distinctive life story and worldview, listening carefully to the challenges and experiences they present.
She adapts her counselling approach to harness individual strengths and internal resilience, ensuring that the counselling process is collaborative, empowering and enabling. She aims to guide clients towards clarity and purpose.
Meena supports clients to identify relational patterns and core beliefs that may be self limiting, and encourages them on their journey to regain equilibrium, purpose and meaningful connections in their lives.
Meena’s theoretical perspectives are individually focused but framed within the understanding of political, social and cultural dimensions of inter-relational power.
She has a wealth of experience in working with many communities, including First Nations, racialized minorities, diverse abilities, women, those with chronic health conditions, disabilities, bereaved individuals, BIPOC and LGBTQ2SI individuals.
Specialized Training and Methods Used
Meena possesses specialized training and expertise in abandonment, abuse, Trauma, relationship violence, violation, anxiety, depression, family conflict, grief, loss, bereavement, life transitions, self-esteem, communication and conflict resolution.
She integrates a range of theoretical and practice methodologies including Trauma informed approaches, Attachment theory, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal Theory, Feminist Approaches, Existential and Humanistic perspectives.
